Albufera National Park
S'Albufera National Park is a wetland and marsh surrounded by hills and centred on a fresh water lake and lies just to the west of Es Grau. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty with an impressive range of flora and fauna. It is protected habitat for wildlife, particularly birds. It is a known stop over point on a major migratory route between Europe and Africa and provides sanctuary for a wide range of species, including ducks, geese, cormorants, waders and raptors. In evidence at certain times of the year are: greylag geese, great cormorants, wood sandpipers, red kite, egyptian eagle, ospreys, whoopoe and bee-eaters, to name but a few.
It has recently been bestowed with a visitor centre and guided walking tours are available. Alternatively, routes through the park are sign posted and provide beautiful scenic walks which can be taken at any time of the year without a guide.
